General Health
Arranging a thorough physical examination may be one of the most important things you can do for your pet.
Baseline blood chemistries, urinalysis, and fecal examinations are also recommended. As your pet approaches middle age we will recommend the appropriate laboratory tests to target age-related health problems, institute preventative health care measures, and detect any disorders early enough to provide the appropriate medical attention.
We also recommend vaccinations against contagious diseases, flea and tick prevention programs, and heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention programs.
Puppies should begin vaccinations at 6-8 weeks, while Kittens begin at 8-10 weeks. Annual boosters are needed to maintain health protection.
Most Dogs should be vaccinated against Distemper, Parvo, Lyme Disease, and Rabies. Those that go to boarding facilities, doggie daycare, or are in the show circuit require additional vaccinations.
Most Cats should be immunized for Feline Distemper, respiratory viruses, Feline Leukemia, and Rabies.
